Hello lovelies!
I'm back with a mascara review. I asked you all on Facebook a few weeks ago what your favorite mascara was and quite a few of you said the Dior Diorshow mascara. Being new to high end mascaras, I took your recommendation and found a travel size on Amazon to test.
I hate to say it, but I'm not getting the hype. A full sized tube retails for $26. My travel size was $10 and I think that was too much. I'm siting here searching for something positive to say about this product, but I can't come up with anything.
The formula is very dry and irritated my eyes. It felt very heavy which drug my curl down. I spent the day constantly wiping flakes of mascara off my face. It honestly did not do anything for my lashes that my $6 Maybelline One by One doesn't do.
I guess I could say the packaging is sparkly and eye catching? I don't know. I'll use the tube I have but this is not something I will be repurchasing.
I'm curious though, what about it do you ladies love so much? I've been asked to find a dupe, but it's proving challenging with no positive qualities (in my opinion) to go on. Let me know your thoughts!
Also, a big congratulations to Sarah K who is the winner of my Facebook Likes giveaway. I'll be doing a give away every 100 likes for awhile so make sure you've liked my page (http://www.facebook.com/havemascarawilltravel) and keep sharing the love with your friends. Muah!
I wonder if the tester you got was a little older, because that's my complaint as it begins to dry out. When it's a brand new fresh full size tube, it is luxurious and smooth to apply, and seems to thicken and lengthen my lashes. I love the dense bristles on the brush. But once it starts to dry out, it's like you described.
ReplyDeleteThose closest drugstore mascara I can think of off the top of my head with a dense fluffy brush like the Diorshow is the Cover Girl Flamed Out mascara, but I don't really like that either. Benefit's Bad Gal mascara has a similar brush and is only $19 vs the $26 of the Diorshow. Not a big savings but some and the formula doesn't flake or get dry in my experience. I'll keep searching the drugstore!
DeleteHmmm, I may have to try the Bad Gal. My birthday is next month and the Sephora birthday gift comes with a mini of the Benefit They're Real, so maybe I'll get a new love. :)
